    Welfare Institutions and Hostel Schemes

    Under Welfare Institutions and Hostels scheme for disbursement of monthly allotment of foodgrains at BPL rate through Government, allocation is sanctioned for half-yearly period to the beneficiaries of Government-aided Welfare Institutions and Hostels, including Government-owned and Government-run Welfare Institutions.

    In accordance with the Central Government's letter dated 13.02.2020, the following instructions should be strictly followed by the Regional Offices in order to distribute food grains to the Government Institutions and Government Aided Institutions owned/operated by the Central and State Governments.

    1. Welfare Institutions and Hostels The welfare institutions and hostels benefiting under this scheme should be allotted foodgrains only by the institutions approved by the concerned department of the state government.

    2. Welfare institutions and hostels should not charge any kind of fee from students for food.
    3. In case of hostels 2/3rd of the total beneficiaries in hostels should belong to SC/ST/OBC category.
    4. Private institutions and hostels in the state and similar institutions/hostels receiving subsidy from other state governments are not eligible to get the benefit of food grains under this scheme. Food grains should be distributed to the said institutions and hostels. Therefore, food grains should be distributed to organizations after checking their eligibility.

    5. Accounts of welfare institutions and hostels must be available for audit as per GR of Accounts and Treasury Department.
